iptvDX is a media playback application for iOS and tvOS. We do not provide, host or distribute any content. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle your information when you use iptvDX.
1. Information we collect
iptvDX collects the minimum amount of data needed to provide the service:
1.1 IPTV configuration data
- The connection URL for your IPTV service (which may include a username and password in standard URL format) and the account name you assign.
- This data is stored securely in iCloud so it syncs between your Apple devices linked to the same iCloud account.
- It is never transmitted to or stored on any iptvDX server.
1.2 Personal usage data
- Watch progress: the playback position you reached in films and series, saved in iCloud for continuity across devices.
- My List / Favourites: the content you add to your personal list and the channels you mark as favourites, synced via iCloud.
1.3 Analytics data (Firebase Analytics)
In order to improve the application, we log anonymous usage events, including:
- Screens visited and tabs selected.
- Searches performed (only the query length and number of results, never the exact search text).
- Content genres selected.
- Playback starts and failures (content type and title).
- IPTV connection successes and failures (number of channels loaded, excluding credentials).
- General app performance metrics.
1.4 Failed playback diagnostics (Firebase Firestore)
When playback fails, we may send a technical report to Firebase Firestore including:
- The URL of the stream that failed (it may contain IPTV credentials embedded in the URL).
- Content type and a description of the error that occurred.
- Device data: model, operating system version and app version.
- Results of channel connection tests (whether it responds and what type of response it returns).
Note on URLs containing credentials: if your IPTV URL includes a username and password inside the link itself, that information may be recorded in the diagnostic report. We recommend using URLs without embedded credentials whenever possible.
1.5 Subtitle data (OpenSubtitles)
If you configure OpenSubtitles to search for subtitles, the title of the film or series you are watching is sent to their servers. Your username, password and access key are stored securely on your device and are never sent to iptvDX servers.
1.6 Content metadata (TMDb)
To retrieve posters, synopses and other descriptive information, we send The Movie Database (TMDb) the content title and your device language. We do not send personally identifiable information to TMDb.
1.7 Downloads
Content downloaded for offline viewing is stored only in your device's local storage. It is not uploaded to any external server.
2. How we use your data
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the iptvDX service.
- Sync your watch progress, personal list and IPTV accounts across your Apple devices.
- Diagnose and resolve playback failures.
- Improve app performance and experience through aggregated, anonymous analytics.
- Show enriched metadata (artwork, descriptions, cast) for the content you play.
- Search for subtitles automatically if you have configured OpenSubtitles.
3. Storage and security
- iCloud Key-Value Store: IPTV accounts, progress and My List sync through Apple iCloud with the encryption Apple applies to this data.
- Keychain: OpenSubtitles credentials and the TMDb API key are stored in the operating system Keychain, which provides hardware-level encryption.
- Firebase: analytics and diagnostic data are stored on Google Firebase servers, protected by Firebase's security measures (encryption in transit and at rest).
- Local storage: downloads and the image cache reside in the device's internal storage under operating system protection.
We apply reasonable security measures, but no electronic system is 100% secure.
